According to the U.S. Department of Energy, lighting represents 40% of the average commercial building's electric bill. Factor that with higher utility rates and your hard earned money seemingly flies out the window.
The Energy Cost Savings Council estimates that energy-efficient lighting generates an average project payback period of 2.2 years and a 45% return on investment. A simple energy audit can identify the best solution for your business.

BGE Prescriptive Motor Incentives End February 28, 2011
The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA) law mandates that NEMA PremiumTM efficiency motors become the standard as of December 19, 2010. Accordingly, BGE will no longer offer incentives for NEMA PremiumTM motors purchased after February 28, 2011. BGE will require that all Prescriptive Motor applications for motors purchased prior to the February deadline be received by BGE no later than April 30, 2011. For a copy of the Prescriptive Motor application, please click here.
Due to the upcoming deadline, the BGE Smart Energy Savers ProgramSM urges you to take advantage of motor incentives before the window is closed. As a reminder, motors purchased through February 28, 2011 may be placed in stock and have up to 6 months to be installed.
Baltimore Gas and Electric Launches ENERGY STAR New Homes and Advanced Lighting Package Programs
As a part of its comprehensive Smart Energy Savers Program, Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) launched an ENERGY STAR for New Homes Program on June 1, 2009. In addition to providing three tiers of incentives for separately metered homes that meet and exceed the EPA ENERGY STAR for New Homes guidelines, this program also provides additional incentives for lighting efficiency. For detached homes, the incentive for completing the EPA Advanced Lighting Package is $525 and for attached homes (townhouses, duplexes) the incentive is $325 per unit. BGE is working with the key players in the lighting market in its service territory to ensure that they are well informed about the program and associated incentives as they work with their builder clients.
